At Reliance Foundry, our premium benches are manufactured using high-quality materials for long term durability. All our wood products will withstand years of service and require very minimal maintenance. Below you will find our guidelines for maintaining wood bench slats. Natural Wood

Care

  • Our real wood options should be re-stained once a year, or when use or wear begins to change the color of the wood.
  • Use an oil-based protectant with UV inhibitors to maintain their color and protection against the elements.

Cleaning

  • Dust the surface with a soft, dry cloth to remove loose dirt and debris.
  • Light dirt and grime can be removed with a mild soap and water mixture and a damp cloth.
  • Take care not to saturate the wood and dry with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Avoid using any hard or abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.

Deep Cleaning

  • For stubborn stains or build-up, use a specially formulated wood cleaner.
  • Follow all manufacturer instructions and rinse and dry wood thoroughly.

Thermo-Wood

Care

  • To maintain the beauty and color in our Thermo-Wood slats, an oil-based protectant with UV inhibitors should be applied yearly, or when use or wear begins to change the color.
  • Do not use water-based protectants.

Cleaning

  • Most stains and minor scratches will fade over time.
  • Light dirt and grime can be removed with soft sponge or brush.
  • Use a smaller brush to get into hard-to-reach spaces such as those between slats.

Deep Cleaning

  • Deep scratches and stains can be blended with a light sanding. This will expose the natural color of the boards and should be re-stained using an oil-based protectant with UV inhibitors.

Eco-Friendly Plastic Lumber

Care

  • Our plastic lumber options do not require any maintenance outside of regular cleaning. They also do not require refinishing.

Cleaning

  • Surface dust can easily be washed away with clean water.
  • Light dirt and grime can be removed with a soap and water solution and a soft sponge or brush.
  • Use a smaller brush to get into hard-to-reach spaces such as those between slats.

Deep Cleaning

  • Deeper cleaning can be achieved by using a pressure washer.
  • Start on the lowest setting and do not exceed 1500 PSI.
  • Keep the tip at least 10 to 12 inches away to avoid potential damage to the slats.
