A Beginner’s Guide to Biking to Work

10 tips to make your bicycle commute as smooth as possible

Thinking about cycling to work? Riding a bike is a great form of cardiovascular exercise and supports environmentally-friendly lifestyles. It’s also much cheaper than your standard automobile commute, and has many wellness benefits.

So why doesn’t everyone hop on their bike each morning? The biggest deterrents for would-be cyclist commuters are safety and inconvenience. But with a bit of planning and preparation, for before, during and after your ride, you’ll be more confident and enthusiastic about taking to the pedals each morning.

Before taking to the streets, be sure to check the weather forecast. Make sure you have a few essential items, and that your company has a bike rack or bike lockers where you can park your ride for the day. Finally, don’t forget to pack a change of clothes and a stick of deodorant so you’re comfortable at the office.
