DECORATIVE BOLLARDS

Bollards can be used in decorative applications to create and define perimeters that are solely visual. Installation methods that fall under the decorative category are generally employed when the intended function of the bollard is architectural or landscape highlighting. Because security and anti-ram posts are not used in decorative applications, the bollard will offer little impact resistance. Decorative installations are quick and easy processes in which the bollard is applied simply with a threaded rod and an anchor casting or concrete anchor.

BOLLARD COVERS – METAL DECORATIVE

Bollard covers by Reliance Foundry can be used in security applications to enhance anti-ram and bumper posts. When employing security installation methods, it is important to note that the bollard cover itself will not play a role in the level of impact resistance provided. In security applications, the function of the bollard cover is strictly ornamental. Installing bollards in security applications is an uncomplicated process in which bollards are affixed with a threaded rod and in some instances a concrete anchor or anchor casting.

BOLLARD COVERS – STAINLESS STEEL

Stainless steel post covers by Reliance Foundry add aesthetic enhancement to security posts. Although they do not function as security devices on their own, they add ornamentation to anti-ram and security posts. Over new or existing security posts, stainless steel post covers can be installed easily with a variety of methods.

BOLLARD COVERS – PLASTIC

Reliance Foundry’s plastic post covers can be installed over security and bumper posts to add aesthetic value. They increase visibility & safety in parking areas, and they eliminate the need for costly maintenance, and they protect bumper posts from the elements. Plastic post covers can be installed with two simple methods, in a matter of minutes.

REMOVABLE BOLLARDS

With proprietary installation methods by Reliance Foundry, bollards can be installed to allow for temporary removability. The removable installation processes are designed for select bollards and may require specialized mounting systems. Removable installations are ideal for sites where access needs fluctuate. It is important to note, however, that when installed in this method, the bollard will offer little impact resistance. Removability can be accomplished with a wide variety of bollards and installation methods.

RETRACTABLE BOLLARDS

Retractable or collapsible bollards are installed in applications in which access requirements may change. Retractable installations are a labour-intensive process in which a hole to hold the bollard’s receiver must be bored.

FOLD DOWN BOLLARDS

Fold-down bollards are mechanisms designed to stop unauthorized parking from reserved parking areas, or to act as entry deterrents in changing access applications. Fold-down bollards for parking are suitable for residential areas and sites where car parks are to provide for employees. Reliance Foundry’s fold down mount can be used in conjunction with all series R-7900 bollards, intended to be easily surface-mounted on almost any pre-existing concrete surface. Fold-down bollards do not offer a high level of impact-resistance.

FLEXIBLE BOLLARDS

Flexible bollards are generally installed in traffic applications where there is an expectation that they may be struck by errant vehicles. Flexible bollards provide no impact resistance and act solely as visual deterrents and guides. Flexible bollards can be installed easily with embedded or surface mounting systems.

CONCRETE BOLLARDS

Precast concrete bollards offer a combination of versatile design and robust impact protection. Bollards are available in a range of unique forms suitable for any building or landscape design. Concrete bollards are reinforced with 6-inch steel pipes for high-impact protection, making them ideal for mixed-use urban environments such as parking lots and other high-traffic areas. Select from a range of robust concrete designs.

SOLAR-POWERED LIGHTING BOLLARDS

With innovative light management technology, Solar-powered bollards by Reliance Foundry increase safety on walkways and accentuate a landscape’s natural or architectural features. Solar-powered lighting bollards are self-contained devices that require no hardwiring, trenching or cabling. They are easily installed in stand-alone applications or over security posts and there are minimal operating costs associated with solar-powered bollards as they warrant no electrical bills and do not require replacement bulbs.

MARTELLO BOLLARDS

Martello Bollards are high-performing traffic guidance devices that blend contemporary and historic design principles. They were designed by the Billings Jackson Design Studio for optimal use in traffic applications. Borrowing from the design of historic Martello Towers, Martello Bollards feature a defensive design that helps them prevent vehicle encroachment on sidewalks and other pedestrian areas. They are available with embeddable footings and surface mountings and can be installed to deliver differing levels of impact resistance.

BOLT DOWN BOLLARDS

Asset Protection Bollards are designed to protect retail and warehouse assets in indoor applications. They do not function as security devices but do provide an adequate level of impact resistance to guard storefronts and warehouse racks from hand carts, floor waxing machinery and other forms of hand-powered equipment. Asset Protection Bollards are easily installed on existing surfaces with bolts and concrete anchors.

STEEL PIPE BOLLARDS

Steel pipe bollards protect buildings and pedestrians from vehicle impact and act as a traffic guidance device. They can be set into new or existing concrete or asphalt by positioning the pipe bollard in its intended location and then pouring the concrete. The pipe bollard becomes a fixed device, creating an architectural perimeter. Decorative post covers and bollard caps can be set over pipe bollards after installation to give them aesthetic enhancement.

CRASH-RATED BOLLARDS

Protect buildings and pedestrians from vehicle ram attacks with ASTM crash-rated bollards. Reliance Foundry’s crash-rated security bollards can be set into new concrete installations, creating a strong perimeter for sensitive areas. Decorative post covers can be added to crash-rated bollards after installation for style and aesthetics.

INSTALLATION TIPS

Bollard and installation type: Be sure to select the right bollard and installation type to suit the needs of your site. A range of bollard-types are available with customizable mounting options.

Keep them packaged: Keep all bollards and associated hardware in packaging to avoid unnecessary damage prior to placement and installation.

Ensure safety: Bollard and cover installations require drilling into concrete surfaces. Contact your local utility providers and conduct X-ray scans of all installation sites to ensure hazards are not present.

Review all materials and instructions: To ensure efficient installation and to avoid unnecessary damage or injury, review all materials and instructions prior to installation. Ensure all tools and equipment are available, including any assistance required for safe lifting and placement of bollards.

Ensure alignment: Measure and mark all mounting locations prior to installation. For straight-line configuration, use a chalk line to ensure uniform arrangement.

Never slide or drag: Bollards and post covers should never be slid or dragged. If bollards or covers need to be set down, cushion with packaging material to avoid scrapes and abrasions.

Prepare touch-ups: Have touch-up paint on site in case bollards or covers are scratched during installation. Any scratches should be covered as soon as possible to prevent rust. See bollard care and maintenance for further details.
