Installing Decorative Plastic Bollard Covers
Protect your pipe bollards while enhancing their aesthetic appearance. Decorative plastic bollard covers help to increase visibility and reduce maintenance of pre-installed pipe bollards. Bollard covers are made of high-quality polyethylene for the best corrosion resistance, and their secure mounting system reduces the likelihood of theft. Plastic bollard covers can be installed using a spray foam to fix bollard covers onto the pipe bollard.
It is important to note that Reliance Foundry’s bollard covers are primarily decorative. Adding bollard covers to existing pipe bollards will not affect impact resistance. The level of impact resistance is directly related to the original installation.

- Handle with care to avoid scratching or damaging bollard cover surfaces.

Before Installation
Inspect the pipe bollard
Examine the pre-installed pipe bollard for signs of damage. Any rust should be removed, and abrasions should be covered as soon as possible. If the damage is beyond repair, a new pipe bollard may need to be installed.
Hold a level vertically against the side of the pipe bollard and ensure that it is plumb.
Note: Any damage or tilting of the pipe bollard can affect the performance of the bollard cover.

Clean and dry the pipe bollard
Brush or wipe the surface of the pipe bollard. Debris can offset measurements and the placement of the bollard cover.
Prepare the bollard cover for installation
Keep the bollard cover in its protective packaging and place next to the pipe bollard. When ready to install, remove the bollard cover’s protective packaging.
Measure the bollard cover. The diameter of the bollard cover should be slightly wider than that of the pipe bollard. The top of the bollard cover should be 1–3″ higher than the top of the pipe bollard.

Secure the bollard cover
Slide the bollard cover over the pipe bollard
Slide the bollard cover over the pipe bollard and hold it at 5–6″ above surface grade.
Apply the spray foam
With the bollard cover held up at 5–6″ above surface grade, insert the spray foam nozzle upward into the space between the pipe bollard and bollard cover. Carefully dispense the spray foam evenly around the surface.
Note: The bollard cover must be held up over the pipe bollard as the spray foam is applied—to prevent accidents and injuries, have a second person to help with this step or ensure that the proper resources are available to set into place.

Set the bollard cover
Lower the bollard cover all the way down and ensure that it is centered over the pipe bollard.
Immediately remove any excess foam with a putty knife.
Press a level vertically against the bollard cover and ensure that it is plumb.
Note: A minimum of 10 minutes at 70˚F is required for the spray foam to set. Do not disturb until it has fully cured.

Clean the bollard cover
Clean the surface of the bollard cover
Use a cloth to clean off any dust or debris.
Inspect
Inspect the installation
From a distance, examine the plane of view.
Ensure the bollard is plumb.
Check the bollard for any signs of surface damage
Abrasions should be covered as soon as possible to prevent rust and ensure the proper life of the bollard. For damage repair or other servicing needs, please contact Reliance Foundry’s sales department.
